(which has not been updated) After the brief demonstration, I challenged some of the facts he quoted about exclusive use of QR codes and the first to use in Australia. I showed my phone from Japan and our Japanese applications and how we have used QR Codes in Australia for the past few months. The sales person then admitted he was only trained in QR Codes the day before…and in fact had little knowledge or understanding of QR Codes The Telstra sales training manager observing the Telstra sales reps spiel to me and stepped in and asked about our use in Australia, I showed our mobile technology that works in Australia and Japan. I think Telstra have some serious credibility problems when it comes to QR Code, 2 months ago I was contacted and invited to a Telstra office in Sydney to demonstrate my QR code system and use, they said they did not have any plans for QR code or unaware of what other Telstra departments were doing regarding QR Code, now they regard QR Code as the future….what’s going on in Telstra? There are several other companies in Australia claiming to be QR Code guru’s, but I have not seen 1 application, they just organise talk-fests to stroke each others ego. A recent Sydney tradeshow I attended exhibited their QR code which just gave their web address which was not hyperlinked…… Australians with knowledge of QR code know Telstra is ‘full-of-it’…recent news paper articles supporting the Telstra version of QR code are factually inaccurate. I understand Telstra has 9 months exclusive use of marketing QR Code in Australia…..

Telstra trials QR Codes in Australia

I visited the new T-life store in Melbourne on the day they released QR Code, a sales rep was eager to show me how it worked, first explaining it was an exclusive Telstra technology, how it was used in Japan and they are the first to use in Australia After a few minutes of explanation he attempted to scan code, which did not work…then using another phone scanned, linking to the Telstra phone site.
