27/11  Which other code than QR can encode Kanji and Kana?

The asian pacific region will become ever more important in the near future and we believe that QR Codes are therefor most suited to be the best international code. Or do you know any other 2d barcode which can encode offline codes with kanji (chinese signs) and kana (japanese syllables)?

No, but I'm guessing those same characters are why I can't use my English barcode software to decode the images in some Japanese magazines a friend brought to Canada for me?
