17/10 Wine and QR Codes
| Category: QR Code, Data Matrix... By editor at 22:44 |
We are proud to have produced New Zealand’s first phone website for Woolllaston Estates.I would love that Woolllaston Estates puts there QR Code on all their bottles, not only on the ones shipped to Japan. I certainly will then buy a bottle or more;).
A QR Code is on each bottle label for sale in Japan, consumers scan the QR Code using their mobile phone and are able to read wine reviews, see images and read tasting notes for all the Woollaston range.
They can also write a wine review, read food pairing suggestions or join a tasting at their nearest wine club.
Local & international sales can also be done through the mobile phone.
Even a QR Code placed in print media or marketing material will link to the phone website, in English, Japanese & Korean
I hope we see some here in the near future too.

Hi Alex,
Thanks. Are you the Alex Avery here?
If yes, is QR Codes for food traceability a topic within your organisation?
Thanks
Roger

I am trying to do the same thing in Italy

Roger, I hope to keep working on such project. It really needs to be followed a different way.
It all started "playing" with Semapedia...I live in an area (Torino, Piedmont) with plenty of unique wines: Barolo, Barbera, etc
Problem is, producers do not really like codes on their bottles. But I am sure, time is on our side ;)

Hector,
First steps are always difficult, especially in traditional businesses.
I think they just do not get yet how important this is for the customer.
Maybe the code makes less sense on a Gaia bottle which is already well known, but it certainly would help all the midrange wineries.
Also, I think information is only the first step. It gets really interesting when you can order or get in touch with the winery right away. Italians who love their telefonino should understand that, no?
PS: And maybe you should also start with olive oil where there is a lot of confusion in the market.
PS2: Personally, I like the QR Code on the bottle in your photo. But if some winemakers don't like it right now, show them a qrcode having the same orange colour as above.

hello
Our company ‘Gallerie’ is the one putting QR code onto NZ & Australian wines and the uptake has been tremendous.
Woollaston Estate will have QR Code for all their export wines with language options from the phone website.
This week QR code will be on NZ Olive Oil and other cooking oils, Honey, and a range of natural skincare creams
We are focused on the Japanese & Korean markets, our phone website will be multilingual.
Our company is also assisting with tourism, where a wine or food is linked with the regions tourism attractions and visa-versa.
QR Code has reduces marketing costs in Japan by 50% in Japan for our clients while enhancing marketing impact and consumer contacts.
